canadian singer/songwriter patrick watson began his musical career early in life.  as a boy he played in church choirs and studied jazz and classical piano performance, composition, and arrangement.  while in high school in the late 1990’s he sang and played keyboards with a ska band called gangster politics.  in 2001 he left the band and released his solo debut album.  he creates vibrantly textured music with his "romantic" voice that can easily be heard above the guitars and pianos so common to his music.

soon after, patrick formed the band patrick watson with guitarist simon angell, drummer robbie kuster and bassist mishka stein.  in 2003 they released their debut album just another ordinary day and the follow up, the critically acclaimed second album close to paradise in 2006.

wooden arms, the highly anticipated and minimally composed third l.p. from the band released may 05, 2009.  "wooden arms is a beautiful collection of songs that bring together delicate pop, ethereal atmosphere and a minimalist sense of composition". said npr’s bob boilen.  "meanwhile, kuster's clattering percussion is crisply performed on snare drums, marimbas and household pots turned upside-down. It's an inspired sound from a great young artist."

patrick has been compared to rufus wainwright, jeff buckley and nick drake.  doug frost, wednesday-music groupie and black cat radio dj thinks patrick watson "is in the neighborhood of andrew bird" and plays the songs "bejing" (a song in which patrick used a bicycle as an instrument) and "big bird in a small cage" on his rotation.
